Vaccinations

Flu, Q Fever and Travel Shots

Vaccinations are an important way for employers to ensure the health of their employees. They are important, for example, in preventing an employee suffering the side effects of an illness that could be acquired in the workplace. Examples of this are meatworkers and Q-Fever, sewerage workers and the hepatitis viruses, first aiders where there is the potential for coming in contact with blood and in turn hepatitis but they are also important for travel. If you have workers who are travelling overseas you need to know they are going to be protected against the infectious disease risks that are inherent in other countries.

The Health Advantage offers access to vaccinations a number of ways. Firstly, there is a vaccination clinic every Thursday morning starting at 7:30am. This is when we undertake the majority of our Q-Fever vaccinations but other vaccinations are also given for industrial and travel requirements, for example, hepatitis, Japanese encephalitis, tetanus etc. We do not currently offer COVID or yellow fever vaccinations but can arrange for those vaccinations to be provided by an associated clinic. We are also able to provide onsite vaccination clinics, for example, during the run up to the flu season we will visit a workplace, undertake a vaccination programme with influenza vaccine. For workplaces where there are a large number of people requiring other vaccinations such as hepatitis, tetanus or Q-Fever, we can visit that workplace as well. The vaccinators are all either accredited vaccination providing nurses or medical doctors and whether performed at The Health Advantage or onsite we carry the equipment required to manage any untoward side effects of a vaccination such as an allergic reaction. Thus, an employer can be assured that their employees are receiving their vaccinations from accredited personnel with all of the safety management systems in place to ensure the correct management of any significant side effects.
